We invite buyers of incentive travel destinations and hotels to apply to be a hosted buyer at this year's ILE event in Roatan, Honduras.

Buyers approved to be hosted will be notified by email by 6/17/2026.

Copan Ruins

Exploring western Honduras means discovering one of the most authentic and extraordinary experiences of the Mayan World. Among sacred cities, tropical jungles, ancestral cacao, local gastronomy, and living communities, this journey has been designed to connect participants with the cultural and spiritual essence of a civilization that continues to live through every stone, flavor, and tradition.

More than a site inspection, this immersive experience will allow participants to experience the destination from a sensory and emotional perspective, combining archaeological heritage, nature, hospitality, and high-value incentive experiences for the MICE industry.

Over several days, participants will explore the Mayan legacy of Copán, considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the Americas, while discovering Honduras’ potential for incentive travel, meetings, and events with authentic identity, exclusivity, and cultural connection.

DAY 1

  • Air transfer from Roatán to San Pedro Sula.
  • Ground transfer from San Pedro Sula to Copán Ruinas.
  • Welcome reception in Copán Ruinas.
  • Networking dinner and welcome gastronomic experience.

DAY 2

  • Guided visit to the Copán Archaeological Site, tunnels, and Sculpture Museum.
  • Destination presentation and meeting with local tourism stakeholders.
  • Site inspections of hotel properties and event venues.
  • Cultural and artisan experiences in the local community.
  • Cacao, tea, and artisanal product tasting experience.
  • Visit to the Los Sapos Archaeological Site.
  • Cocktail experience and themed dinner.

DAY 3

  • Guided visit to a bird conservation and rescue center.
  • Coffee experience and guided tour of a specialty coffee farm.
  • Lunch featuring regional gastronomy.
  • Immersive experience at an artisanal chocolate factory.
  • Guided visit to the Copán Ruinas Archaeology Museum including a virtual reality experience.
  • Experiential dinner focused on Honduran culture and gastronomy.

DAY 4

  • Ground transfer from Copán Ruinas to San Pedro Sula and onward connection to Roatán. (guests can also choose to book their flights home from San Pedro Sula vs. flying back to Roatán)

ILE is curated as a member experience for the SITE Southeast community. Should additional capacity become available, the chapter may extend a limited number of invitations to select non-members. Selection Process

An anonymous committee will review all applications. The ILE committee will reach out to those selected with next steps by June 17th. 

The selection committee will review the following when selecting hosted buyers:

  • Current membership in SITE Southeast
  • Past and present chapter involvement
  • Industry buying power
  • Answers to application questions
